Artist statement of Anthea McGibbon as at February 14, 2011

I think how else can anyone enjoy my gift, without my expressing it. I see everyday how art is involved with every aspect of each persons life and livelihood, yet it is so taken for granted, instead of being used as a critical tool in advancing oneself. If only we all realized how creativity makes life easier.

I strive to make each person see the role of art beyond adding beauty, and recording, and as an expression of what is observed and observed. I strive through all forms of Arts I indulge in to connect with the inner being of those who accept and thereby are inspired and strengthened in being greater.
I make decisions constantly about my art expressions whether painting, writing, choreography or teaching. More often than not I decide based on what I need to be communicated and understood by viewers, clients and patrons.
My techniques reflect the uniqueness of my skill, and my tools – from the green ink of my pen to oil or acrylic of my brush are just to obtain the result I am after.
My themes are based on my focus and how I choose to connect, sending varied messages to stir challenge yet soothe the minds while uplifting them with some comical point.
My current work is towards an exhibition of Jamaica
